Denis Chang is a Taiwanese-Canadian guitarist and educator specializing in Gypsy Jazz — the music of Django Reinhardt. Born and raised in Montreal, Denis spent years living and playing alongside Sinti Gypsy musicians in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany, becoming one of the very few non-Romani guitarists to be fully immersed in the tradition. In 2008, Denis was honored to perform with the legendary Les Paul at the Iridium in New York. He has worked with top Gypsy Jazz figures including The Rosenberg Trio, Joscho Stephan, Paulus Schafer, and Tcha Limberger. He is one of the very few non-Gypsies to have learned Romanes, the language of the Romani people. In 2011, Denis founded DC Music School, a boutique online music school that has grown to over 5,000 registered users in more than 50 countries, featuring world-class instructors across a wide range of genres and instruments.
